Jed Bradley Scouting Report (2011)
Georgia Tech left-handed pitcher Jed Bradley is projected by many to go in the top-15 picks of the 2011 MLB draft. After a couple of years of scouting solely minor league talent, relocating has allowed me greater access to top prospects including those from the ACC as they pass through Atlanta. What better way to be re-introduced to big time college baseball than to see five of the nations top-100 college talents on the same field at Russ Chandler Stadium, a truly great place to watch a baseball game. Oh yeah, and that Bradley kid isn't so bad either.
- Excellent present size for a pitcher; Strong core with leaner upper body
- Room for additional projection?; Do not see much additional room for physical development
- Clean mechanics; Very little effort in his delivery; Low perceived injury risk
- Command/control was average early; Improved in the later innings
- 89-91 MPH fastball early; 91-92, touching 93 MPH from 3rd inning on
- Maintained velocity late into the game; Multiple 93 MPH readings in the 7th
- Fastball had natural sink and tail to his arm side; Definite ground ball tendencies
- 83ish MPH slurve; Sharp, 3/7 break
- Located well throughout; Kept slider at the knees or lower
- Potential swing-and-miss pitch when kept low in the zone; St. John's hitter swung over the offering the entire game
- 82ish MPH changeup
- Like his fastball, the change had natural sink and tail to his arm side
- Picked up a slight slowing of his mechanics when throwing the pitch; Minor adjustments are needed
- Compared favorably to Mike Minor when I scouted him after being drafted</li>
